Legal Tender

a queer hypnosis made of poems and movement;

a cross-country astral trip through smalltown gay bars and newsrooms;

a series of guided meditations on hustling, schlock, and the breaking points of reality

Legal Tender is an interdisciplinary performance work of poetry by Kyle Dacuyan, created in collaboration with Antigravity Performance Project. Performed by Kyle Dacuyan (poet) and Andalyn Young (dancer/physical theatre artist), this episodic duet of movement and poetry considers the relationships between information, consumer culture, labor, and borders. With theatrical design and performance states inspired by club culture, meditation/trance, and media consumption, the piece moves through experiences of pleasure, contemplation, ecstasy, and disorientation.
